Plaque Psoriasis
Plaque psoriasis is a type of psoriasis that causes red, flaky, crusty patches of skin with silvery scales. These plaques can appear anywhere on the skin but most commonly on the elbows, knees, lower back. Plaque psoriasis is the most common form of psoriasis.
It happens when skin cells are replaced quicker than usual. It’s thought to be caused by the immune system attacking healthy cells by mistake. There are environmental and genetic triggers.
The pharmacists at Monkbar Pharmacy have undertaken additional training that allows them to supply some prescription only treatments for psoriasis available that aren’t available in most pharmacies.
