Meningitis B
Meningitis group B bacteria is the most common cause of meningitis. Most infections occur in babies and children. Meningitis can cause septicaemia and 1 in 10 people die from meningitis.
We offer a private service for those who have missed out on their childhood vaccinations. Our service is available for adults and children aged 2 and over.
The NHS offers a Meningitis B vaccination as part of the routine childhood immunisations programme in the UK. Vaccinations are given to babies at the ages of 2, 4 and 12 months. Vaccinating babies helps protect them when they’re most at risk.
Meningitis B was added to the programme in 2015, for babies born on or after 1 July 2015. Those children and adults who fall outside of the NHS age range can consider having the vaccination privately at Monkbar Pharmacy.
It comes as 2 doses. Spaced 1-2 months apart (dependant on age)
All our regular pharmacists at Monkbar Pharmacy have been administering vaccinations for over 6 years. We aim to make the experience as totally stress-free as possible and are very accommodating and patient with those that have a fear of injections.
